International Caving Camp, Supramontes 2010 (Σαρδηνία)

Δημοσίευση από Stelios Zacharias »

Μας πληροφορεί η FSE για την διεθνή κατασκηνωτική συνάντηση Supramontes 2010 στην Σαρδηνία, αρχές Αυγούστου 2010:
We are fully preparing the International Caving Camp Supramontes 2010, EuroSpeleo Project supported by the FSE, to be held in Urzulei (Sardinia) from 1 to 15 august 2010.
We now have a website in which you can find all necessary information if you are interested to participate to this camp.
Please visit http://www.aspros.it

For logistical needs we ask participants to register in this website, compiling the online form, and to pay a minimum amount of 40 Euros (guaranteeing 5 days of camp). Subscription fees are composed of registration (5 euros) and a daily fee of 7 Euros.
e.g., if one intends to stay 8 days the amount to be paid is 5 + 8x7 = 61 Euros, if one stays the entire 14 days the sum to be paid is 103 Euros.
Subscription gives right to accommodation and food for the indicated days.
Two social dinners will be organised (half camp and end of camp) and will be paid for (at moderate prices) on site.
Don't be afraid, if you pay for 8 days and in the end you only stay for 4 you will be refunded.

Note the Camp is organised in a "hot" period, so the earlier you book the ferries (Tirrenia, Moby Lines, Sardinia Ferries etc.) the better!
There will be a shuttle for Cagliari and Olbia airports, and if necessary also from Alghero. Just let us know in time!

Please do not hesitate to contact me or Laura for more details.
We hope to gather a nice bunch of cave hungry explorers in Supramonte this year!!
Best wishes

for the organising team

Μας ενημeρώνουν οι οργανωτές του Supramontes:

Dear friends,

forward this mail to whoever might be interested.

we are now two months away from the International Caving Camp Supramontes 2010.
Many cavers have already shown their interest in coming over to Sardinia to give us a helping hand. We believe it will be a crowdy and joyful place at Genna Silana in August!
Remember to subscribe in www.aspros.it and to pay registration fees before July 15th! And take boat and airtickets in time!

Soon we will receive 500 m BEAL rope and some kitbags Avventure Verticale (thanks to the European Speleological Federation).

The last weeks have registered quite some rainfall in Sardinia.
Su Colostrargiu Cave has therefore been left alone for the time being. There's not much to do there for the moment, and equipment of the shafts will be carried out in the beginning of July.

In the meantime Lovettecannas has been visited. There's quite a lot of water in this cave also, but we hope that conditions will be much better in August. The underground trail is being laid down with red and white flagging in order not to waste time finding the right way through the difficult passages. Some of the smallest squeezes are being enlarged too. Work has also started in the final boulder choke. After several hours of excavation, moving hundreds of boulders, some passages always close to the water have been discovered. But there is still a lot of work to be done here.
The underground bivouac (camp) will most probably be placed at White Granite. This is (now) a quite wet place, and some work has to be carried out to make this the most comfortable possible place to stay. It is a strategical point, right before the final wet passages where a wetsuit is absolutely necessary. Four cavers should be allowed to stay here for the nights.
Our strategy, in fact, is to enter in groups of 4 in the evenings, sleep at White Granite Camp, work the whole day after, sleep once again before leaving the cave in the next morning. Meeting at the Genna Silana lodge in the early afternoon and the same evening a next team of 4 cavers would enter Lovettecannas again to continue the work done by the previous team.

Work continues at Lovettecannas the next weeks. We'll keep you updated with further news!

We hope to see many of you in August.
